What’s the best time to visit San Antonio?
Though you can find something to do in San Antonio almost any time because of its 300 days of sunshine, it’s pretty hard to beat the city in late April. Even if you don’t take into account springtime along the famed River Walk or Spurs playoff basketball, there’s Fiesta, a Mardi Gras-like celebration — without all of the lascivious overtones, of course — that revolves around the April 21st anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto back in 1836. With 11 days full of family-friendly festivals, pin trading, food and parades (including the gigantic Battle of the Roses Parade and dazzling nighttime Fiesta Flambeau Parade), Fiesta shows San Antonio in all of its culture-rich splendor.

I love three things in life: my family, sports and travel. Knowing that most people wouldn’t find my aunts all that fascinating, I chose a writing and editing career centered around the latter two interests. Before joining Forbes Travel Guide as a Senior Associate Editor, I earned a journalism degree from Georgia State University and penned stories for outlets like AOL and Destinations Marriott — all of which made my mom pretty darn proud. When I’m not writing and editing, I’m traveling everywhere from Denver to the Dominican Republic.
