What is ARIA Resort & Casino’s Michael Jordan Invitational?
The Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star ARIA Resort & Casino serves as the host hotel for the Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational, while the actual golf tournament takes place at the world-renowned Shadow Creek Golf Course. The tournament has been in partnership with ARIA in the past thanks to a three-year contract. But now that the contract has ended, I’m hoping a new contract is negotiated for another three or more years. This is because Las Vegas is the perfect place to play—whether you’re golfing, hitting the nightclubs or frolicking around in one of the Spa Suites at Four-Star The Spa & Salon at ARIA. During the star-studded MJCI this past April, everyone from Michael Jordan (of course!), Don Cheadle, Brody Jenner, Will Smith and more came out to play. The event isn't all about golf either — think VIP tent filled with lots of food such as salads and pasta, plus, mixed drinks and beer — it's a prime place for fun and celeb watching. -

What are some of the specialty cocktails available at Sage?
Every Vegas experience has to include a cocktail (or two). But not just any old beverage will do. Head to the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Sage restaurant at ARIA Resort & Casino for its unique drinks list, which guests can read up on via an iPad brought to your table by a sommelier. It’s all in the presentation, right? Start the night off with a complimentary amuse-bouche such as the Pink Lemonade. The beverage is poured into an ice-filled absinthe balancier and then moves slowly through a see-saw device in an effort to create the perfect libation. Other drink favorites include The Cat Walk (Belvedere Lemon tea vodka, aperol, St. Germain liqueur, orange cream, rooibos tea, passion fruit, egg white and prosecco) and the Last Word (Plymouth Gin, green chartreuse, Luxardo maraschino cherries and fresh lime). If you don’t know what to order, just ask for general manager Robert Nikodem or any of the other mixologists — they’ll explain the subtleties of the beverages and craft choice concoctions worth checking out.

Being in the know is a must for me. After receiving my master’s in journalism at Florida A&M University, my first gig landed me in New York City as a reporter for People. Since then, I’ve been a fashion/entertainment editor, magazine journalism professor and managing editor of 944 and Vegas/Rated magazines. My favorite pastimes include hitting the spa, finding out which Five-Star hotel has the most comfortable bed and trying out delicious dishes in any given city.
