Where is The Inn at Dos Brisas located?

Travel Guide Inspector

Tucked onto 300 acres of breathtaking pastures, The Inn at Dos Brisas makes its home in what can only be described as a rural landscape at 1000 Champion Drive in Washington, Texas. Luxurious and rural? They may sound like opposites, but The Inn at Dos Brisas proves otherwise. Spanish-style casitas, trimmed with rich leather furniture and plush touches, give the resort’s tree-lined pathways, horse-filled pastures and 10-acre organic farm a luxe touch.

Almost hidden in this picturesque setting, the Texas hotel provides an escape, complete with a Five-Star innovative farm-to-table restaurant worth the visit all on its own. But this sort of luxury, and seclusion, demands a trek: The Inn at Dos Brisas is a two-hour drive east of Austin or a one-hour ride north of Houston. Instead, skip the car altogether and travel in style: A short helicopter ride from Houston — a popular option among the inn’s clientele — will get you there in no time.

What is the children’s room service menu like at The Inn at Dos Brisas?

The Inn at Dos Brisas in Washington, Texas doesn’t offer a separate children’s room service menu. The inn is more of a romantic getaway involving multi-course tastings in the restaurant or cozy dinners for two in your casita or hacienda. The room service menu is always changing and while there will most certainly be more than a few items your children will like — we had a roasted chicken with potatoes that our toddler would have gobbled up — the inn is best reserved for weekend escapes to recharge and reconnect.

What restaurants at The Inn at Dos Brisas are best for families with children?

The Inn at Dos Brisas in Washington, Texas only has one restaurant. Every meal during your stay at the inn comes from its sole restaurant. This includes a wonderful breakfast that’s delivered to your room each morning, as well as in-room dining. The restaurant isn’t stuffy but it’s an elegant place to dine and you’ll mostly see couples there. Children will likely get bored during the evening’s multi-course tasting. Budding foodies will no doubt enjoy the fresh and largely organic cuisine but it’s more of a romantic getaway than a family vacation.

What special amenities are in the rooms at The Inn at Dos Brisas?

The Inn at Dos Brisas may be a 300-acre luxury ranch, but there is nothing rural about the amenities you’ll find on your overnight stay. In fact, this resort takes the cake when it comes to high class: not every hotel includes a welcome bottle of champagne and housemade chocolates, or a kitchenette stocked with complimentary snacks and drinks. But then again, The Inn at Dos Brisas wants to make sure your stomach is kept as happy as you are. So, if you find yourself hungry during your visit to this Texas lodge, you won’t be at a loss. The kitchenette includes a refrigerator full of Voss water and artisan sodas, locally-roasted Independence Coffee Company beans are available for a fresh cup of joe, and Terra chips and Late July cookies (like Oreos) provide a sweet treat. After your dinner and evening activities (borrow a telescope to view the must-see Texas night sky and stars), your room will be set for the night with a turndown service featuring warm cookies, chilled milk and an impressive fresh fruit platter.

What is the gym like at The Inn at Dos Brisas?

If you’ve come to The Inn at Dos Brisas looking for a mega gym, complete with state-of-the-art workout machines and a sauna/spa, look again. This 300-acre luxury ranch doesn’t have a gym. To get your workout kicks, make like a Texan and get your butt into gear, cowboy style: The inn offers horseback-riding lessons that are sure to get your muscles sore. You can also enjoy the sprawling landscape with a jog along one of the many pathways, or borrow a mountain bike and spend the day cruising (Washington County is a known bike road training destination, and it’s not uncommon to see avid cyclists racing by the inn). But remember, the Texan sun is hot, so pack your swimsuit and make sure to plan some time to cool off with a swim in the inn’s infinity pool afterward.
