What bars are close to Aurora?

Aurora is close to the chic 38 Lounge on the roof of Altira where there’s an indoor and outdoor space and live music every night. The view from the 38th floor of the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Altira Macau offers a chance to drink in the glittering Macau skyline. Happy hour brings a two-drinks-for-one promotion and the bar menu boasts of Portuguese-inspired tapas. Is Aurora good for dates?

Aurora is decidedly a romantic restaurant ideal for dates in almost any scenario. Though a table facing the outdoor space and the glittering Macau skyline in the distance is a good choice, perhaps you’ll find a table in the secluded wine cellar, just off the main dining room, even better. You’ll have all the privacy you need, but still have a view of the theatrics taking place as your order is prepared in the kitchen open to the rest of the dining room. If you really want to wow your date, reserve the pavilion — an entirely separate dining room located across the patio from Aurora. The pavilion has its own entryway and bathroom and could be the location for a meal of a lifetime — think Champagne followed by a proposal, gentlemen.

How old does my child have to be to dine at Aurora?

Though Aurora is a fine-dining Italian restaurant that is decidedly grown up with its hundreds of bottles of wine paired with its Riedel and Reynaud glassware; there is no age limit for children. You’ll find that the kitchen welcomes young diners and is happy to please their delicate of palates with simple Italian fare such as al dente pasta flavored with olive oil and Parmesan. But the best meal for your tots at Aurora is the brunch, when, every Sunday,  a full spread of breakfast delights is enhanced by entertainment from clowns and magicians. The buffet is served from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Forbes Travel Guide editors suggest you make a reservation to ensure you don’t have to console disappointed, not to mention hungry, children.

Aurora’s water service gives you plenty of choices when you’re dining at the high-end Italian restaurant in the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Altira Macau. What kind of coffees and teas are served at Aurora?

The selection of coffees and teas is just as varied as the martini list at Aurora, the Italian restaurant in the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Altira Macau hotel. You’ll find that after a three- or four-course meal, nothing tastes better than an espresso or cup of hot tea. You’ll have Harney & Sons Teas to choose from including Earl Grey, herbal tea, English breakfast, jasmine, green, mint (our favorite for after dinner), Ceylon, citron and black. When you order an after-dinner tea, they will bring out a steeping pot of hot water. Even though it’s the end of the meal, still don’t expect that you will ever lift a finger pouring or refreshing your cup of tea, the staff and service are that good.

Does Aurora have any special or rare liquors?

In Italy, where Aurora finds its culinary inspiration, there’s a long tradition of lingering at the dinner table with special spirits and rare liquors. These liqueurs are usually slightly bitter and sweet, earning them the name amari, which means bitter in Italian. They help settle the stomach and aid in digestion after a generous meal. Aside from Aurora’s Chateau Latour vertical collection from 1945 to 2005 worth MOP$1.5 million (you can buy some of the vertical by the bottle, but other bottles require you to buy the entire vertical), Aurora also has ten special Italian liquors on their drink menu you may want to sample before or after your meal.
