Although Art Basel Miami Beach’s main draw is the art, you’ll want to squeeze social soirees into your trip. In 2012, UR1 Music and Art Festival, debuted over Basel weekend (Dec. 8 to 9), and was chock-full of headliners such as Kanye West, Fun., The Offspring, Keane and Lenny Kravitz. To give it an artsy edge, the Miami music festival also joined forces with Art Basel to incorporate large-scale artwork into its space at Bayfront Park and Amphitheater.
 
Also featured in 2012 was Güiro. This pop-up oceanfront open-air bar installation in the shape of a guiro — a Cuban instrument made from a hollowed-out gourd — was filled with art, live music and cocktails for Art Basel visitors to socialize in and enjoy.
