The waiting area at 29 Spa maintains the art deco styling of the boutique hotel with sparkly, half-dome chandeliers adding glitz to the otherwise simple layout.

Muted, grayish blue walls contribute to the serene atmosphere of the spa, as a Georgia peach-scented candle flickers on the dark wood, granite-topped front desk. One wall in the waiting area is covered in a woven, textured wallpaper, giving the space an organic, natural feel. A bar area offers lemony iced tea, a bowlful of apples and a signature fruit and nut blend with Arabic almonds. There is no reading material clutter for you to pour into as you wait on the brown velvet, ribbed sofa or one of the ivory arm chairs. Instead, just sit back and breath.

Connected to the waiting area is the spa shop, where you can pick up products from spa creator Lydia Mondavi’s 29 Collection or the Epicuren skin care line. You can also shop the popular OKA b. shoe line — which after enjoying your treatment in your slip-ons, you’ll be bound to pick up a cushy pair for under $40.

29 Spa has a clear focus: unleashing the power of grape seed for results-based treatments.

The spa’s creator, Lydia Mondavi, a fifth generation Atlantan, was inspired by Highway 29, which runs through Napa Valley. Mondavi developed the 29 Collection, a grape seed antioxidant, age-protecting product line with the goal that it should protect and rejuvenate skin in the tradition of her family’s wine making industry. Rich in polyphenols, the crushed grape seeds and grape seed extract found in her products protect the skin against free radicals and pollutants, the fruits of the Napa Valley-based 29 laboratory’s chemists.

Backed by science, the grape seed extract in your spa treatment is 20 times more efficient than Vitamin C and 50 times more efficient than Vitamin E in eradicating free radicals.

1. OKA b. slip-on shoes. These are a favorite at luxury spas, not to mention spa shops. You just might buy in to its tagline, “shoes that love you.” The spa shop tries to stay stocked in the fashion and comfort favorites, selling several pairs a day, all for less than $40. OKA b. shoes combine reflexology and ergonomics in myriad styles and vibrant colors.

2. The 29 Collection. This unique grape seed antioxidant, age-protecting product line was born out of the rich tradition of the Mondavi family’s wine making industry. The treatments are results-based, focused on harnessing the power of grape seeds to leave your skin protected and rejuvenated.

3. A glass of Mondavi wine. After your treatment, instead of hurrying you on your way, you’ll be invited to stay and enjoy a glass of Mondavi wine, white or red. Better yet, as you sip the wine’s richness, you’ll be set up with a hot neck pillow to prolong your relaxation.

Chocolate brown outside, ivory inside, 29 Spa’s micro-fiber robes feature a logo, making you feel even more like a pampered VIP. Post-treatment or after maxing out the wet lounge, you can take a hot shower in one of the three spacious (yet private) showers with changing areas attached. For a blow-dry or to touch up your make-up, 29 Spa has three vanity nooks with amenities like cotton balls and Q-tips to help clear up any smudges.
