Book an appointment at Immerse Spa by calling the Four-Star Detroit spa directly. You can take this route whether you’re one person, in a party of five or more, or are interested in booking a spa party or special event. Single spa goers, however, also have the luxury of booking an appointment online on the MGM Grand Detroit’s website. Just look on the right-hand side of the page for the words “book online” in the information and reservations box. From there you will be directed to a spa reservation form to fill out, where you’ll need to write your name and contact information, spa visit date and preferred time. You can also select the types of services you’d like and whether you’d prefer a male or female therapist.

Immerse Spa requests that if you can’t make your appointment, or if you have to change the date or time, that you cancel at least 24 hours before its set to begin. You will not be penalized until four hours before the designated appointment. Cancel within that window and you will be charged 50 percent of the cost for the service you were scheduled to undertake. If you’re a total no-show, you will be charged for the full treatment. The spa will make these charges on your credit card (which you have to in order to hold your reservation).

In addition to its couples rooms, the Immerse Spa offers a couples treatment package called Wood. Couples are given their choice of two soaks — the Retreat Soak or the Healing Soak. The Retreat Soak blends Dead Sea salts, lava clay, minerals and blood orange, cypress and other oils; while the Healing Soak is a blend of hinoki wood, mint oil, chlorophyll, sage and lemon (each soak lasts 20 minutes). Women are offered a 110-minute flower body ritual, which includes a 50-minute massage, a yuzu fruit and sea algae purification, a scrubbing using fir oil and crushed walnut, and a rose water misting. Men can enjoy a 110-minute hammam treatment, which also has a 50-minute massage, plus exfoliation, polish and body misting. The entire treatment last three hours and is topped off with a lunch for two.

There are seven types of massages available at Immerse Spa, plus five massage enhancements. The Calm Massage is for stiff muscles; Stone is a thermal massage with heated basalt stones; Sport applies seaweed mud; aroma lets guests chose a scent; and Four X Two features two therapists performing a Swedish massage in concert. These massages can be conducted in 50-minute or 80-minute sessions. There’s also a 50-minute pre-natal massage and a 25-minute express. Massage enhancements include warm mud, Thai bolus medicine bundles, a jade roller, and round ball attached to a handle that is bounced off your acupressure points.

Immerse Spa has a wrap to meet your needs — whether you want to soothe your skin or instantly look slimmer. The Slim body ritual places you inside a body cocoon infused with seaweed blends to detoxify and boost your metabolism, while the Firm body ritual features a velvet-like wrap to make your skin look more toned and youthful. Both rituals last 50 minutes, and the Four-Star Detroit spa says they’re ideal for new moms, people who’ve experienced dramatic weight loss and those who’ve had extensive exposure to the sun. Finally there’s the Bejeweled specialty treatment, which places you in a warm and buttery wrap. This 110-minute treatment also includes a bath, after which you’ll be treated with gold-flecked body oil and dusted with golden power.
