Where is La Folie located?
La Folie is located in the Russian Hill neighborhood of San Francisco. This residential area of the city is also home to many restaurants, boutiques, parks and nightlife. The neighborhood got its name when a group of gold rushers found a small Russian cemetery on the hill. Though the gravestones no longer exist (nor does any Russian influence), the neighborhood retains its name. Russian Hill is conveniently located near tourist-favorite Fisherman’s Wharf, as well as chic Nob Hill and Ghirardelli Square. You’ll find La Folie, a Four-Star restaurant, at 2316 Polk St.

La Folie is open for dinner Monday to Saturday from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., and it is closed on Sundays. When dining at this Four-Star San Francisco restaurant, you can expect an experience that is sophisticated without being pretentious. Chef Roland Passot showcases his extensive French training in dishes like seared black cod with roasted fennel and beets, a trio of rabbit (loin, rack and braised leg) with vegetables, roasted garlic and jus, and butter-poached lobster on top of butternut squash ravioli. You can personalize your dining experience here by creating your own three-, four- or five-course prix fixe menu.

While there is no strict dress code at La Folie, guests are expected tube respectful of the upscale atmosphere and dress formally at this Four-Star San Francisco restaurant. For men, dress slacks and a button-down shirt with a jacket are appropriate; while ladies will fit right in with dress trousers, blouses, skirts and dresses. Keep in mind that this is a fine-dining restaurant, so you will want to stay away from the obvious faux pas, such as athletic clothing, tank tops, flip-flops and T-shirts. The dress code is well suited for the elegant yet comfortable interior at La Folie, which features contemporary wood furnishings in a warmly lit and open space. This atmosphere is carried over into chef Passot’s refined plates of modern French cuisine.
