What are the five best amenities at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort?

When you stay at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, prepare for some pampering: Every time we turn a corner at this Five-Star hotel, we find a new luxurious amenity that makes us love it that much more. Though it proved to be quite difficult, we've narrowed down the Sanctuary's five best amenities:

1. Turndown service. Whether you are coming in from a long day on the beach or golf course, there is nothing better than returning to a room that's primed for bedtime. The curtains are drawn, soft music plays from your nightstand radio, your comforter is turned down, robes wait on your bed, the lights are dimmed and a pleasant, soothing smell pervades the room. You'll be dozing in no time.

2. Complimentary bottled water and fruit. When you arrive at the hotel, you'll find bottles of water along with fresh fruit in your room. The refreshments are a nice pick-me-up after a long flight; after some noshing, you'll be ready to explore all that Kiawah Island has to offer.

3. Balconies. Forget about using a sound machine to hear the melody of crashing waves; you'll get your own ocean soundtrack at the luxury hotel. Every guestroom has a balcony or terrace where you can enjoy the view and breeze off of the water. The balcony is the perfect place to enjoy your morning cup of Joe or just listen to the peaceful music of the slamming waves.

4. Free shoe shines. Don't worry about your shoes getting scuffed on the golf course or your loafers looking worn for your meeting; the Sanctuary at Kiawah Island gives out complimentary shoe shines to all guests.

5. A pool for adults. Sometimes the kids need a break from the parents and, more often, vice versa. The luxury hotel has a separate adults-only pool where you can have a quiet, relaxing tanning session or swim. Meanwhile, rowdy children can frolic in the family pool and play around with the hotel's water toys.

    • Five things to know about The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island are:

      1. To provide a view of the tide breaking at mid-tide, more than 500,000 tons of dirt were trucked onto the island on which the hotel was built to raise the entire first floor from six feet above sea level to 21 feet.

      2. Before the dirt was brought onsite, the resort removed all of the current oak and palmetto trees. After the hotel was finished, the resort transplanted over 160 live oak trees to create an entrance that appears to have been in place for centuries.

      3. Raising the level of the hotel allows it to have a tunnel system so guests will not see carts (other than luggage carts) and maintenance equipment moving through it.

      4. The hotel was designed to look like the grand beach house of a rich Charleston landowner.

      5. The structure uses traditional Charleston building materials in its construction, like slate roof tiles, oversized “Charleston” brick and wrought-iron-looking balcony railings (iron would rust in a seaside environment so aluminum was used).

      2. Its tennis center is world-class. It was rated as the No. 1 tennis resort in the world by Tennis Resorts Online and No. 3 in the U.S. by Tennis magazine.

      3. Its premier golf course, The Ocean Course, was named the No. 4 public course in America by both Golf and Golf Digest magazines and will be hosting the 2012 PGA Championship.

      4. Its grounds have been classified as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary by Audubon International (as have all five golf courses on Kiawah Island Golf Resort).

      5. All this just 21 miles from beautiful and historic Charleston, S.C., one of America’s top destination cities.

    • The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island strives to be kid-friendly, offering amenities that the whole family can enjoy together. So bring your clan and check out these five best amenities for kids:

      1) The Grand Lawn. At the Five-Star hotel, kids have their run of a large lawn that's inspired by English gardens. Children can go there to run, fly kites or just play on the grass.

      2) The pools. Your little one has her choice of two pools: One is for kiddies only and the other is an all-ages pool with a large waterfall fountain. Your child won't get bored hanging out at the pool. Of course, you also could bring her to the hotel's private beach for a change of scenery.

      3) Kiddie programs. The Sanctuary offers Kids' Night Out and other fun programs for children to enjoy during their stay. The programs will keep them busy with crafts like making tie-dyed shirts and activities like laser tag. Plus, meals are provided.

      4) Adjoining rooms. The hotel has 24 sets of connecting rooms to accommodate large families. You no longer have to worry about the kids being down the hall from you.

      5) Beach toys. When you visit the luxury hotel's beach, your child will be armed with all the necessary supplies for in-the-water fun, including boogie boards, skim boards, floats and other toys.

    • The Sanctuary at Kiwah Island's gym is spacious, clean and organized. Everything is laid out for easy access, and all the cardio and weightlifting equipment has ample space for you to perform your exercises. Each cardio machine gives you something to look at, too: Every one has its own television screen and faces the large front windows that overlook the lush hotel grounds. An adjacent large fitness-class area provides ample space for the variety of classes, and you can sign up to get in on one if you need some instruction. The gym at the Five-Star hotel offers 12 cardio machines, several four- and six-pound medicine balls, free weights up to 50 pounds, and abdominal benches, chest press benches and a squat rack that'll let you work out every one of your major muscle groups. Whatever your workout style is, The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island's gym has enough equipment and large enough facilities to enable you to work out, just as you would at home.

    • At The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, take a seat in the Four-Star Ocean Room's fabulous bar to down delicious signature drinks. Our favorite is the Kiawah Island Iced Tea with locally made sweet tea vodka, gin, rum, tequila, sour and cola. The sweet tea adds a Southern slant on the traditional Long Island iced tea cocktail. You can also sip on a refreshingly crisp martini prepared with Hendrick's gin, dry vermouth and cucumber. Though you may want to play it by ear to see what kind of concoctions the bartenders are mixing up that day. In case you don't have a taste for cocktails, a variety of wines, import and domestic beers, Scotches and liquors are on offer as well.

    • Scope out the bathrooms at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island and you'll find they are stocked with Elemis bath products that are replenished daily. When you bathe in the deep-soaking tub or shower in the roomy rainhead-shower-equipped stall, clean up with Elemis shampoo, conditioner, lotion and bath gel in soothing scents. If you can't make it to the hotel's Five-Star spa, the spacious spa-like bathroom will suffice for some quickie serenity. One of the best bathroom perks is that the large tub is partially surrounded by plantation shutters that open up to the room and even extend to a view through the balcony doors.
  • Forbes Inspector answered a question:
    • The bathrooms at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island are spacious, just like the rest of the room. Each bathroom comes with a roomy separate shower with a rain showerhead and a small seat so you can turn the stall into a small steam room. The toilet is enclosed in its own room, and two sinks line the wall. The large, deep soaking tub is sectioned off with plantation shutters that open up into the rest of the room and could provide a view through the balcony doors as well. When you soak in the tub, raid the supply of Elemis lotion, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel for a luxe bath. The space is simply decorated with a large mirror, sand-colored tiles and classic black hardware to complete the spa-like atmosphere worthy of being part of the Five-Star hotel.

    • As you climb into your room's custom two-poster bed, you'll know exactly why the hotel is called The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island. The dark wood bed comes with a plush mattress that allows you to drift off into a world of utter relaxation. The cloud-like mattress is part of Master Sleep's Luxury Comfort Premium Collection. It's topped with classic white sheets and pillowcases made by Liddell, a noteworthy manufacturer from Ireland. Each bed is adorned with a cluster of decorative pillows that pick up on either the yellow or green tone that each room exhibits. Toss those aside and sink your head into the down pillows as you lounge with a book in hand; a firmer variety of pillows is available if you prefer. The beds at The Sanctuary live up to the hotel's name and promise a good night's rest.
  • Forbes Inspector answered a question:
    • Unfortunately, the only room at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island that has a fireplace is the exquisite Presidential Suite. But it seems that more people would rather soak up the South Carolina sun at the oceanfront hotel than be bundled up by a fire. If you do want to sit in front of a roaring fire and can't book the 3,100-square-foot Presidential Suite, head to the hotel's lobby and bar area. There are several cozy fireplaces in the elegant lobby sitting areas. There aren't many times during the year that the fireplace is actually needed, but the atmosphere it creates is utterly romantic.
  • Forbes Inspector answered a question:
    • You'll get unrivaled views no matter where you stay at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island because all rooms come with a balcony or terrace. Whether you are looking over the garden or out onto the Atlantic, your balcony is a great place to sit and unwind after a long day on the golf course. The interior rooms overlook the large, gorgeous lawn that evokes an English garden, while some rooms give you a great view of the ocean. The outer rooms offer a glimpse of the beautiful tropical grounds surrounding the Five-Star hotel. Needless to say, regardless of where your room is, you will have a fabulous view that transports you even further away from the real world.
  • Forbes Inspector answered a question:
    • For the rooms with the best views at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, book a premium oceanfront suite on the interior corner with two balconies. These rooms offer the best of both worlds, a nearly endless view of the ocean in either direction from the hotel grounds and a balcony overlooking the large lawn reminiscent of an English garden. You'll even get a glimpse of the hotel pools. On the lawn, you will see people flying kites, picnicking, relaxing in lounge chairs or perhaps enjoying one of the many events the Five-Star hotel holds on the grassy area. These two balconies will make leaving your beautiful room difficult; stay in the relaxing space for room service meals, a cold drink from the mini-bar or just daydream.
  • Forbes Inspector answered a question:
    • Families with kids will get all kinds of amenities at the Sanctuary at Kiawah Island. Whether you've brought along your baby or your middle-schooler, the Five-Star hotel can easily accommodate you. Ask for cribs, childproofing items, and toys or games, and they will be delivered expediently to your room. Request them prior to your arrival, and they will be waiting in your guestroom when you check in.

At the pool or beach, children can borrow boogie boards and floats to make their time in the water more fun. In addition, the Five-Star hotel offers a full program of activities for kids. Kamp Kiawah sessions allow kiddies to enjoy their day or night with their peers over lunch or dinner, crafts, physical activities, games and movies. Nearby tennis courts and golf courses offer youth training sessions, and 32 bike and jogging trails with various observation decks are a fun way to explore the island.

    • One of the reasons people come to The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island is for the golf courses. This Five-Star hotel is part of the sprawling Kiawah Island Golf Resort, which offers five spectacular courses. Whether you are the next Tiger Woods or just looking to play a calming round of golf, any one of these courses is a great option. If you want to get technical, the nearest golf course to The Sanctuary is Turtle Point, but the other four are pretty close by as well.

Turtle Point was designed by famed golfer Jack Nicklaus and flaunts some of the most striking fairways we've seen. Three of the holes on the renowned Turtle Point course hug the coastline, and a variety of tropical vegetation surrounds this wide-open course.

Adjacent to Turtle Point is the Tommy Cuthbert Golf Learning Center, which is the place to go if you need to brush up on your game. The center has a large number of driving range tee boxes and offers lessons for all ages and skill levels.

The Ocean Course is where it's at in the golf world. Designed by Pete Dye, this course has quite the track record. Hosting the 1991 Ryder Cup, the 1997 and 2003 World Cups, and the 2007 Senior PGA Championship, the Ocean is the best course on the island. Playing at this course definitely earns you bragging rights, especially when the 2012 PGA Championship is here.

You can also hit the green at Osprey Point, designed by Tom Fazio, Cougar Point by Gary Player and Oak Point by Clyde Johnson. Five different courses designed by five of the world's leading golf course architects are at your fingertips when you stay at the Sanctuary.

Don't worry if you forgot your laptop, there are several computers you can use in the nearby business center. Inside the small business center, you'll find other amenities, including two fax/copy/print machines in the common areas and individual rooms that offer quiet workspaces. If you are here with a group or for a conference, take advantage of the separate check-in area with a private entrance. And don't bother lugging your gaggle of gadgets with you; the Five-Star hotel loans out e-readers and laptops. High-tech audiovisual equipment and large projection screens are also available for presentations.

The menus packed with choices, but we suggest you go for the Low Country breakfast buffet. With continental breakfast staples like fruit and pastries along with Southern specialties like Low Country shrimp and grits, and vanilla bourbon French toast, it's hard to go wrong with this buffet. The brunch menu changes weekly to offer a new, fresh and, of course, local seafood display, house-made charcuterie and seasonal entrée favorites. Champagne is included along with an abundance of desserts made by the Five-Star hotel's own pastry chef.

The restaurant steps up the meal by adding the musical stylings of the Williams Duoa father-son pair that combines acoustic guitar and violin to play a variety of jazz standards and unique renditions of classic tunes. If you want to nibble on shrimp and grits in this energetic, entertaining environment, reservations are highly recommended.

For a more proper ceremony, try the Grand Lawn. It sits behind the hotel, bordered by the U-shaped building on three sides, and can be seen from the interior balconies. The lawn is meticulously kept, resembling a perfect putting green, and was designed to look like an English garden. The Terrace Courtyard on the other side of the hotel offers a slightly more casual and private venue, but it also has ocean views. The most casual onsite restaurant is the beach and poolside Loggerhead Bar & Grill. Loggerhead offers typical backyard barbecue options like burgers, wraps and salads. • The conference area at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island is large, 18,000 square feet, and private, as it resides in its own wing of the hotel. The biggest of the bunch is the Grand Oaks Ballroom, which is a little more than 6,000 square feet and can be divided into breakout rooms from 775 square feet up to 3,750 square feet. All of the spaces are designed as an upscale ballroom that has a touch of British royalty influence with crystal chandeliers, elegant crown molding and elliptical cove ceilings.

For a smaller space, try the 2,880-square-foot Terrace Ballroom or the 1,870-square-foot Heron Room, both of which can be divided in half. Smaller groups may want to opt for the more intimate Calhoun Boardroom, which has a small study area and large conference table overlooking the hotel grounds. • The most popular attractions near The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island revolve around the beautiful tropical setting of this coastal island. Five golf courses are on the island, and they offer stunning views of the coastline, marshland and tropical foliage while you hit the links. The clay courts at the hotel create a tennis game that can't be beat, whether you are a newbie or prepping for the U.S. Open. The Ocean Room will hit the spot if you crave a hearty steak dinner. With sweeping ocean views and a chef's tasting menu that features fresh, local ingredients, your meal at this Four-Star steakhouse will be one to remember. If you prefer fish to beef, The Ocean Room also has a bar area that's the only place on the breathtaking island to serve sushi.

Jasmine Porch is a popular restaurant whose dining room resembles a large, elegant sunroom. Whether you dine here for breakfast, lunch or dinner, there's an extensive menu featuring local produce and seafood.

Next door is the tiny café Beaches and Cream. It's the place to grab a quick sandwich, cup of coffee or other house-made goodies. Take it to go or snag one of the nearby bistro tables.

The casual Loggerhead Bar & Grill serves delicious pub fare like burgers, frozen drinks, salads and wraps. The best part is you don't even have to get up from your oh-so-comfortable chaise lounge by the pool or on the beach: The wait staff will bring your food right to you.

Each piece of furniture and décor has been lovingly picked out or gathered from traveling around the globe. You’ll notice lots of natural colors and wood accents, such as the striking black walnut floors. The casual Loggerhead Bar & Grill serves delicious pub fare like burgers, frozen drinks, salads and wraps. The best part is you don't even have to get up from your oh-so-comfortable chaise lounge by the pool or on the beach: The wait staff will bring your food right to you.

  • The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island offers 24 sets of connected rooms for you to book for the whole gang. Granted, sometimes it's nice to have separate rooms for the parents and children, but it is settling to be able to keep an eye on the little monsters. Each connecting pair adjoins a king room with a double queen room. The Sanctuary will have another eight to 10 sets of connecting rooms available by January 2012 to accommodate demand for them. This is also part of the hotel's plan to be more family-friendly. The great thing about connecting rooms is that you can always close the adjoining door when you need privacy.

• The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island offers several breakfast options, such as the 24-hour room service that provides continental options and various breakfast meats. Two on-site eateries — Jasmine Porch and Beaches and Cream — make up your sit-down options.

Jasmine Porch is the most popular choice, providing a brunch-like atmosphere with high ceilings and large, dramatic curtains between tables that create a sunroom atmosphere — hence the name Jasmine Porch. This restaurant offers a large made-to-order menu or a generous Lowcountry breakfast buffet in a setting that invites you to start your day slowly.

Your other option is Beaches and Cream, a tiny shop that offers simple breakfast sandwiches, coffee and baked goods to grab and go or to enjoy at one of the handful of bistro tables. So whether you fancy a sit-down, quick-fix or in-room meal, The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island has enough options to suit you and your breakfast appetite.
  • The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island offers three bars on-site; the most intimate establishment is the lobby bar. Designed to look like a gentleman’s parlor of the Antebellum South with an antique globe, hunting trophies on the wall and decorations that nod to sailing around the world, the lobby bars feels cozy with dark wood and leather accents.

Another bar sits adjacent to The Ocean Room, the formal steakhouse eatery at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island. This bar is an extension of the Four-Star Ocean Room restaurant and is the only place to get sushi at the resort. Lastly, the Loggerhead Bar & Grill has a bar area where you can enjoy drinks and food poolside throughout the day in a casual deck setting. We recommend checking each of the bar options out while you stay at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, as each offers something different in terms of atmosphere.
  • At The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, you can grab a bite at several spots, including The Ocean Room, Jasmine Porch, Loggerhead Bar & Grill and through 24-hour room service. However, we say the five best things to eat are all on the menu at the Four-Star Ocean Room, the Sanctuary's beloved steakhouse:

    1. The rib-eye. Being a steakhouse, it's only proper to order the classic rib-eye. But this slab is a bit bigger than your average cut. The 40-ounce bone-in rib-eye is carved tableside and served right onto your plate to retain all of its juices. Of course, at 40 ounces, this steak is large enough to share, though you'll want it all for yourself.

    2. The sushi. After numerous diners clamored for sushi, the Bar at The Ocean Room finally hired a sushi chef. This just so happens to be the only place on Kiawah Island to get sushi. The fresh rolls are made with perfectly sticky Forbidden Rice.

    3. The filet mignon. The filet mignon is definitely one of our favorites. The filet is tender and lightly seasoned to let the natural flavor stand on its own. We know it's a safe bet, but it's worth staying on the safe side this time.

    4. The starchy sides. Among the sides, all of which are served family style, try the bacon tots. The crisp potato dish is perfectly cooked and paired with a bacon-laced dipping sauce. The thinly cut pommes frites are also a great choice; they are cooked in truffle oil, which gives the fries a distinct, delicious flavor.

    5. The seasonal beef. This steakhouse offers seasonal cuts of beef, including the 130-degree tenderloin and a dry-aged steak raised at nearby MiBek Farms especially for The Ocean Room. These prime cuts are always fresh, flavorful and a give you plenty of reason to come back to the Four-Star restaurant.
  • The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island serves Sunday brunch at the popular Jasmine Porch. The restaurant resembles an elegant sunroom with high ceilings and huge curtains hanging between tables for a sophisticated yet inviting atmosphere to start your day.

  • You won't need to leave your guestroom at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island to get prime eats; there's a sizeable room service menu with breakfast, lunch, dinner and even late-night options that's available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For breakfast, steer clear of the typical continental staples and try one of the Southern specialties, like shrimp and grits, vanilla bourbon French toast, or Low Country eggs Benedict smothered with Creole mustard hollandaise. At lunch, try The Sanctuary's take on the famous South Carolina she-crab soup or choose among salads, wraps, panini and burgers. Dinner serves up seafood, chicken, pasta and steak, all with special sauces and unique ingredients that live up to the high quality expected of a Five-Star hotel.

A late-night menu is available, but you may want to sate your midnight munchies with delicious desserts like the seasonal crème brûlée, homemade bread pudding or farmhouse cheese plate, after all, you are on vacation. Wines and cocktails can also be delivered to your room at anytime, so you can sit back and relax with a libation in your luxurious accommodations.
  • The signature dishes for dinner at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island can be found at the formal dinner restaurant, The Ocean Room. This Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star restaurant is known for its steaks, with a nearby farm actually raising grass-fed cows just for The Ocean Room. The cuts of meat are juicy and lean, with specialty options like a 130-degree filet mignon or a huge bone-in ribeye clocking in at 40 ounces and brought tableside to be carved right onto your plate. The Ocean Room also offers a signature chef’s tasting menu everyday that revolves around fresh, locally produced ingredients such as corn, blackberries and tomatoes. This menu provides you with three different courses that offer a great variety of the native flavors. You can also add wine pairings to each of the courses at The Ocean Room for an additional cost. All in all, we think you’ll be quite pleased with the local and signature specialties you’ll find when you stay at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island.
  • The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island has two main bars, the Lobby Bar and the Bar at The Ocean Room, and each pours several wines by the glass for you to sip while you take in views of the Grand Lawn and the Atlantic Ocean from their large windows. The Lobby Bar offers a seasonal wine list of 10 to 15 rotating choices; sommelier Garth Herr focuses on selections that complement the weather. However, at the Bar at The Ocean Room, the focus for the wine list is all about complementing the cuisine. Steaks and sushi are two of the most popular choices, and the list reflects that. Though you'll find all different types of wines there, and your bartender or server would be happy to make pairing recommendations for you.

The bars do flaunt some rare vino, such as bottles from Dunn and Shafer Hillside Select in Napa, Domaine de la Romanee Conti in Burgundy and select Bordeaux. The Ocean Room chefs emphasize fresh, local produce, and since wine production in South Carolina is limited, Herr mimics this mindset by finding unique, small-production wines from around the world. You'll definitely find an unusual pour at both bars.
  • If you've brought the whole gang along to The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, there's no need to worry about choosing a kid-friendly place for dinner; all of the Five-Star hotel's restaurants accommodate families.

The most casual onsite restaurant is the beach and poolside Loggerhead Bar & Grill. Loggerhead offers typical backyard barbecue options like burgers, wraps and salads. If you are lounging poolside with a good book and the kids are splish-splashing around, the wait staff will bring your grub straight to your chaise lounge.

Jasmine Porch is another popular option that serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and a busy weekend brunch. The restaurant is designed to look like a large, slightly upscale sunroom and offers a large menu sure to satisfy even the pickiest eaters in your family.

While outside the hotel, but still on the grounds of Kiawah Island Golf Resort, there are couple of casual eateries that are great for families. Stop by West Beach Village for a bite at Southern Kitchen, which offers up Southern favorites, or go to Heron Park, home to Night Heron Poolside Grill & Bar.
  • To start the day at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island with a good meal, head to Jasmine Porch, a happening breakfast spot that offers several signature dishes. The most popular is the restaurant's Low Country breakfast buffet, a spread of continental staples paired with a variety of Low Country favorites like shrimp and grits, and vanilla bourbon French toast. If your appetite isn't ravenous enough for a buffet, these Low Country dishes can be made to order. For room service, you also can order the shrimp and grits and French toast, or try the Low Country eggs Benedict doused with Creole mustard hollandaise or the Charleston breakfast sandwich, with scrambled eggs, applewood-smoked bacon, cheddar, grilled plum tomatoes and roasted shallot aioli stuffed between two slices of grilled country bread. You'll get a real taste of the South with these tasty breakfast dishes.
  • After a long day at the pool, relax with the family and order room service; The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort offers a small yet pleasing kids' menu. Whether your youngster is in the mood for chicken fingers or even filet mignon, this room service menu will take care of that hankering. You'll also find the staples like burgers, pasta, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. For healthy options, order your child grilled chicken or shrimp. Pair the dish with sides like French fries, a fruit bowl, mashed potatoes and vegetable crudité. Your little one won't go hungry if you decide to dine in the room rather than venture to one of the various restaurants at the Five-Star hotel.
  • The Atlantic Ocean is our favorite form of entertainment at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, but if you want some music while sipping on a nice Scotch on the rocks, the Lobby Bar is the place for you. We say “Scotch on the rocks” because the bar is so overly masculine that you'll be compelled to order it even if you aren't a scotch sipper. As you relax at the bar, take in the melody from the Five-Star hotel's very own piano player. The musician tickles the ivories every night, providing you with plenty of entertainment inside the luxury hotel.
  • The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island offers 24-hour room service so you don't have to worry about living off of mini-bar snacks if you get a hankering in the middle of the night. Choose from a plethora of sandwiches, salads, soups and entrées to enjoy in your spacious room or on your beautiful balcony.

Many of the in-room dining options can be found on the menus of the onsite restaurants, Jasmine Porch, Loggerhead Bar & Grill and The Ocean Room. The room service menu has a Southern slant that utilizes fresh and local produce as much as possible, with plenty of Southern staples like fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, she-crab soup and seafood selections. Premium ingredients elevate ordinary items like a turkey wrap with Muenster cheese, avocado and bacon.

You can also order boxed lunches with roasted turkey, BLT or crab salad sliders. For a special treat, try one of the thematic meals, which require 24-hour notice, such as the Family Package, which provides junk food for a movie night, the Romance Dinner or a Romantic Kiawah Picnic.
  • The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island has four restaurants on premise: Loggerhead Bar & Grill, Jasmine Porch, Beaches and Cream and The Ocean Room. Beaches and Cream is a cute, small grab-and-go coffee, baked goods and sandwich shop that offers a quick bite and sweets most of the day, with a few scattered bistro tables to sit at.

Loggerhead Bar & Grill is a poolside bar and grill that offers poolside and beachside food and drink service directly to your lounge chairs. The restaurant also offers lunch and dinner with a heavy Southern influence on its menu offerings.
