In a time when cell phones are like appendages, Spa at Trump wants you to cut them off. The spa requires that you turn off all electronic devices when you come in for your treatment. Before your appointment at the luxury Four-Star spa — perhaps while you’re filling out in the informational questionnaire in the reception area — take a moment to turn your phone off or set it to silent mode. Part of the spa’s goal is for you to enter into a peaceful and serene environment without the distractions of modern-day technology. If you think you won’t be able to fight the urge to send out a quick email or update your Facebook status, maybe you should leave your phone in your hotel room or at home. If that feels too extreme for you tech addicts, keep your phone safe and sound in the spa’s private lockers, which seal shut with the personal code you choose and type in on the keypad on the door. Then you won’t be tempted to send just one more text.

When you enter the waiting area at The Spa at Trump Chicago, you’re immediately enveloped in a soothing herbal scent, but it won’t overpower those with sensitive sniffers. The space is filled with light wood décor, from the walls to the reception desk, where friendly attendants await to welcome you with refreshments. And if you want something to accompany your fruit-infused water, tea or bottled water, grab an apple from a bowl on the desk. While you wait for your scheduled appointment, take a seat on the long comfy wooden bench to fill out the simple set of questions pertaining to your preferences, the reason for your visit and so forth. The survey lets the staff gain a better understanding of your body before it gets to work. You may be tempted to peruse the adjacent spa store for luxe lotions, but you’ll likely want to change into your robe and slippers and head to the relaxation area directly next to the treatment rooms. This luxurious space is perfectly dimmed with extra-squishy chenille chaises and plenty of reading material. Hang out here with your fellow spa guests, or head into the private men’s and women’s relaxation rooms that are attached to the larger coed area to patiently pass the time until your massage or facial.

When you’re not tapping into your deepest levels of relaxation during a soothing massage or a nourishing body treatment at The Spa at Trump Chicago, take a moment to peek out of the windows in the treatment rooms to the view outside. The 14th-floor spa sits in a pristine spot near Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River, so you can observe the various buildings that crowd the city skyline. If you can’t catch a glimpse during your treatment, there’s still plenty of time to appreciate the view during your walk back to the locker rooms. Trump International Hotel & Tower for Chicago is specially designed so that the facilities like the spa, pool and gym are located on the outer portion of the building, which means these window-lined areas will give you an eyeful.

We loved snuggling up in the white plush terry-cloth robes and matching squishy slippers at The Spa at Trump Chicago. Of course, the robes and slippers are stitched with the classic “Trump” logo. The slippers are one size fits all, but we found them to fit most feet comfortably. Once you’ve draped yourself in the robe and shimmied your feet into the slippers, be sure to protect your belongings in the lockers; they are locked with a personal code that you type in a keypad and secure. This allows you to enjoy your massage or body wrap without worrying about any sticky fingers pocketing your goods.

There are so many amenities at The Spa at Trump Chicago, you’ll feel like you’re in the lap of luxury. Here are five prime amenities to watch out for at the Four-Star spa:
1. The steam shower. A stop in Spa at Trump’s steam shower pre- or post-spa treatment is perfect when you want to unwind. The great thing about the steam shower is that it’s infused with eucalyptus, allowing your pores to open up and your skin to detoxify.
2. The deluge shower. We loved the roomy multi-head deluge shower in the locker room. Step in the stall and customize the light color, water temperature, massage speed and even music, for a spectacular shower. You’ll wish you had one at home.
3. The selection of snacks. While you zone out in the relaxation room, don’t forget to sample the assortment of teas in glass jars with silver scoops, fruit-infused water, nuts and apples. They are the perfect light refreshments before your treatment.
4. The pool. The 75-foot massive indoor heated pool is great for a dip during your trip to The Spa at Trump Chicago. It offers great views of downtown Chicago; so if you’re not in a rush, it’s a nice place to swim a few laps and people-watch out of the one-way tinted windows. When you want to dry off, grab a newspaper, bottled water or fruit-infused water and relax in the pool lounge area.
5. The private relaxation areas. The Spa at Trump Chicago provides a nice alternative to the coed relaxation area that’s next to the treatment rooms. The Spa at Trump Chicago makes sure you have the proper refreshments during your visit, offering a variety of beverages to quench your thirst and relax your body. When you arrive at the Chicago spa, the receptionist will ask if you’d like fruit-infused water, bottled water or tea. If you’re not immediately in the mood for a drink, don’t worry — there will be more opportunities during your visit to sip on something. The locker rooms feature more refreshing fruit-infused water, so go ahead and have another glass. Once you enter the chic and cozy relaxation area directly outside the treatment rooms, you’ll notice the walls lined with various teas in elegant glass jars with silver scoops, even more fruit-infused water (hey, you have to stay hydrated), apples and nuts. These are the kinds of refreshments you want before any treatment — light enough to soothe your senses and nourish your tummy, but nothing so heavy to make you feel like you could keel over before making it to the massage table.

When you’re not getting pampered during one of the treatments at The Spa at Trump Chicago, you have the option to head to the gym and get your heart rate pumping. Hop on one of the gym’s state-of-the-art Technogym cardio machines, or build up those muscles with the weight-training equipment. There are two separate studios where classes such as spinning, yoga and Pilates take place throughout the week. The gym’s floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of the impressive Chicago architecture are a great bonus; hopefully, the city backdrop will make your workout go by a little faster. Once you’ve finished releasing those endorphins, take a dip in the massive 75-foot-long heated indoor pool next door or hit up the sauna, steam room or deluge experience shower in the locker room. Of course, you could always relax your gym-weary body with a massage in the spa.

A gift certificate to Spa at Trump can be the perfect present for a stressed-out friend or deserving loved one. Call the Chicago spa directly to arrange a gift purchase or buy one in person at the reception desk. Gift certificates are available for all the salon and spa services, including massages, facials and body treatments. For a truly glam gift, we recommend one of Spa at Trump’s signature treatments like the ultra-luxurious purifying diamonds massage. Your giftee’s body will be rubbed down with oils infused with healing benefits of diamond and botanical essences. We’d have to say that liquefied diamonds are a worthwhile alternative to jewelry.

The treatments at The Spa at Trump Chicago look to help calm, balance, purify, heal and revitalize. Almost all the treatments at the Chicago spa have these results, but here the best five that left us in total bliss:
1. Purifying diamonds massage. When you want to go a little extra glam, why not book a diamond facial? Your therapist will use oils infused with the healing benefits of diamond and botanical essences to relax your body and make your skin sparkle.
2. Royal Lulur ritual. This 120-minute-long treatment is inspired by the 17th-century tradition from India for brides of royal families. Start with a jasmine-and-frangipani-scented oil massage and then get buffed with a Javanese scrub, which contains turmeric, rice, spices and a traditional splash of yogurt to refresh your body. But you’re not finished yet. This royal ritual concludes with a hydrotherapy service. It’s almost as good as wedded bliss.
3. Ultimate Kate facial. Skincare expert Kate Somerville created a special facial exclusively for the Four-Star spa. It begins with a super-hydrating oxygen treatment using dermal boosters that plump your skin full of nutrients. Next comes a relaxing pressure point massage, which is followed by the DermaLucent therapy to protect your skin from free radical damage. And your face doesn’t get all of the pampering; during the light therapy, your tootsies will be treated to a relaxing massage with a creamy goat milk lotion.
4. Emerald Oasis body treatment. Designed specially for women (sorry, guys), this treatment tries to detoxify the body and hide unsightly cellulite. Using a blend of mineral salts, mint and emerald-infused oils, your therapist massages your body to remove any impurities and dead skin cells and stimulate circulation. Post-scrub, you’re slathered with a gold clay body mask, while your scalp gets an invigorating massage to zap any tension.
5. Ultimate urban body mask. This treatment helps combat the damaging effects of pollutants and stress that unfortunately come with city living. Therapists first exfoliate your body and use detoxifying herbal mineral salts and antioxidant vitamins. Next, you’re covered with a blue-green algae body mask that’s enhanced with chlorophyll extracts to nourish your skin. Last but not least, your treatment concludes with a replenishing massage application of detoxifying aromatherapy oils including cypress, rosemary and grapefruit.

The Spa at Trump Chicago Trump’s philosophy focuses on five specific results: to calm, balance, purify, revitalize and, finally, heal. The Four-Star spa helps you get to these five blissful stages through a series of treatments that are personalized from start to finish. During our massage, we were asked to describe our areas of pain and tension so that our therapist could better understand what to work on during the treatment. After he untangled the knots in our back with luxurious gem-infused oil, he gave us helpful advice on how to prevent that now-gone pain in the future. Our therapist went beyond temporarily relieving our aches to get to the root of the problem and offer some healing.

It’s better to be safe than sorry, so we recommend booking an appointment at The Spa at Trump Chicago a few days in advance. One thing to consider is the time of day you want to go. If you’re hoping to visit during after-work hours (around 4 or 5 p.m.), when stressed downtown workers try to squeeze in pampering sessions before dinner, you’ll want to make an appointment well in advance. Last-minute appointments are not impossible though, just call the Four-Star spa to check availability and you might get lucky. For those staying at Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago, just walk directly to the front desk at the spa and talk with one of the receptionists who will let you know the open spots during your desired date and time. Put in a little effort into planning your spa day and you won’t be sorry.

Booking an appointment at The Spa at Trump Chicago is easy — all you need is your credit card number as a deposit. To reserve an appointment at the spa, call directly, book online or drop by the reception desk in person. There’s a reason the Four-Star spa takes your credit card digits when you schedule a visit: It will charge you 50 percent of your treatment cost if you don’t cancel at least 24 hours in advance. If you made appointments for multiple treatments, you have to cancel 48 hours in advance. No-shows will have to pony up for the full price of all treatments.

If anything comes up last minute — whether it’s an early flight home or a business meeting that runs too long — cancel your treatment at The Spa at Trump Chicago immediately to avoid any charges. The Four-Star spa requires you give at least 24 hours’ notice when nixing your reservation, otherwise you have to pay 50 percent of your treatment cost. Those who book multiple services must cancel 48 hours in advance to prevent a 50 percent charge to your card. If you decide not to show up at all, the spa will charge your card in full for the treatments booked. To be safe, it’s always a good idea to keep the spa’s phone number handy so that you don’t have to worry about any unnecessary charges to your credit card.

Trump International Hotel & Tower for Chicago opened its doors on January 30, 2008, and with the hotel’s debut came The Spa at Trump Chicago, which sits on the 14th floor. Since the 23,000-square-foot space is still relatively new, it hasn’t been renovated. The subtle and elegant elements are refreshing, with light wood décor and herbal-scent-infused air throughout the spa. The locker room features top-notch amenities such as a soothing eucalyptus steam showers, deluge showers that let you customize everything from the water pressure to the music, and a sauna. As you walk from the locker room to the waiting area outside of the treatment rooms, glance out of the windows at the city skyline. The only thing that beats the modern facilities of the Four-Star spa is the view.
-
When you want a quick blowout or a manicure in the salon at The Spa at Trump Chicago post-treatment, the spa staff can coordinate your visits. You won’t have to venture far — the salon is connected to the spa, making it easy for you to book back-to-back appointments during your stay. Should you have a bit of downtime in between appointments, head over to the pool for a quick dip; or if you’re feeling ambitious, take on a calorie-busting workout in the gym. However, you did come to the spa to relax, so why not indulge in one of the locker room amenities? You’ll forget all your worries in the sauna, eucalyptus steam shower or, best of all, the customizable deluge shower.

A gift certificate to Spa at Trump can be the perfect present for a stressed-out friend or deserving loved one.

The Spa at Trump Chicago Trump’s philosophy focuses on five specific results: to calm, balance, purify, revitalize and, finally, heal.

When you want more privacy or to hang out with your girlfriends, head to the gender-specific relaxation lounges. Each room is outfitted with three chenille chaises and a much more intimate setting. -
We loved snuggling up in the white plush terry-cloth robes and matching squishy slippers at The Spa at Trump Chicago. -
The locker rooms at The Spa at Trump Chicago are well-equipped with plenty of handy amenities and soothing facilities to make your trip all the more enjoyable. There are a few different locker areas, so you won’t feel cramped while you’re preparing to get Zen. The lockers house plush terry-cloth robes and soft slippers, and they have keypads on the doors so you can type in a personal code to protect your belongings. Toward the back of the locker room, you’ll find the sauna, soothing eucalyptus steam shower and ultra-cool deluge shower. If you have some time before or after your treatment, don’t miss the deluge shower. This tricked-out stall takes showering to a whole other level, with customizable colored lights, water temperature, music and massage therapy from the numerous showerheads. Plenty of lotions and hair products are placed out on the counter for your use, including hairspray, hair gel, combs and blow dryers. As you exit the locker room, be sure to check out the incredible view of the city buildings from the windows that line the hallway. You’ll appreciate the spa treatment that much more as you prepare to head back into the daily grind.

The interior design of Spa at Trump reflects the luxury spa’s philosophy to calm, balance, purify, heal and revitalize. The reception area is outfitted with lots of modern light-colored wood, from the walls to the front desk and a comfy bench. The calming herbal-infused air gives it even more of a natural vibe. As you stroll through the rest of the spa, the coed relaxation area next to the treatment rooms is soothingly lit, with cozy light-purple chenille lounges and matching ottomans, sleek light fixtures, and a bevy of reading materials, apples, nuts, tea and fruit-infused water. From the locker rooms to the relaxation area to the private treatment rooms, you’ll feel tranquil and at ease with your surroundings. The spa’s décor effortlessly blends together chic modern elements with lustrous materials and colors — all of which creates a peaceful atmosphere in this Four-Star urban oasis.

Before and after your appointment at The Spa at Trump Chicago, you’ll have a chance to sit in the cozy relaxation area that’s directly next to the private treatment rooms. Underneath sleek and modern light fixtures, plop down on a light-purple chenille chaise, kick up your feet on the matching ottoman and let the calming atmosphere take over as you let any build-up of stress and worry leave your body. If you need some energy before your appointment, check out the selection of teas, fruit-infused water, apples and nuts. There are also more private relaxation lounges in an attached room (one for guys and one for ladies), where you will find the same décor but with a more intimate feel. If you plan on settling into to the lounge for a bit before your appointment, grab a cup of tea and sift through the selection of reading materials on the coffee table.

The treatments at The Spa at Trump Chicago look to help calm, balance, purify, heal and revitalize.

We all have different preferences when it comes to getting pampered, and the choice of your therapist’s gender is no exception at The Spa at Trump Chicago. The Chicago spa has both male and female therapists at the ready to perform the various treatments offered, from facials, massages and body treatments to hair and nail services. Whether you prefer a male or female therapist, the spa will be happy to oblige as long as you let the staff know ahead of time which one you’d prefer. If you aren’t asked automatically when you book your treatment, be sure to state your choice.

When you’re not getting pampered during one of the treatments at The Spa at Trump Chicago, you have the option to head to the gym and get your heart rate pumping. -
During a visit to Spa at Trump, you have access to the hotel’s mega-size pool. The 75-foot swimmer’s paradise is heated and indoors, making it the perfect escape from those chilly Chicago winters. Around the pool you’ll notice large fresh towels, fruit-infused water, bottled water and newspapers at your disposal. Look out of the big windows in front of the pool and cast your eyes upon the unbeatable views of downtown Chicago and the Chicago River. The pool also has lounge areas with charming dark-brown furniture, so you can sit back and collect your thoughts before heading back to the locker room. Whether it’s before or after your spa appointment, we think the pool is the perfect place for a refreshing dip.
