What is the best time to visit Sea Island?
To take full advantage of Sea Island’s five miles of Atlantic Ocean coastline, the best time to visit is in the late spring or summer. Because the private resort island is a popular spot for family vacations, reservations can fill up rather quickly, so be sure to book early. Even if you can’t make it out there during the spring or summer, the Georgia coast sees mild year-round temperatures that average between 65 and 89 degrees. That means you won’t go wrong even if you stay there in the winter. In fact, December is also a nice time to visit; the Five-Star Cloister gets festive during the holiday season, with floor-to-ceiling Christmas decorations and an impressive gingerbread castle.

We’ve tried to appeal to a wide variety of tastes. We start with the Georgian Room which is our most refined and awarded restaurant. We also feature great rustic Italian at Tavola, Southern Seafood at Southern Tide, great steaks in sophisticated setting at Colt and Allison, the Oak Room which is a classic American Bar and Grill, the River Bar which is a casual brasserie and the Davis Love Grill which is our Sports Bar. We also have great food at the Snack Shack at the pool and an eclectic menu with strong international influences at the Flip Flop Bistro at the Beach. So it all depends on what you’re in the mood for! -

It really depends on who you’re coming with and what you want to do! For golfers you can’t beat The Lodge. For romantic getaways The Cloister. If you’re coming with family or more than 2 people we have the Beach Club, Ocean Villa’s and our Cottages (some of which have as many as 7 bedrooms!). -

What should I pack for a trip to Sea Island?
It all depends on what you want to do. There are so many options from golf, tennis and beach activities to dining. Most of our restaurants are resort attire but at the Georgian Room our Forbes Five-Star restaurant, you may want to dress up. Men should bring a jacket and women should bring a dress along with resort attire. You may also want to bring your golf clubs, tennis rackets and fitness gear or, but if you’d prefer to travel light we have this equipment available. Don’t forget a camera, sun screen and an appetite for fun! -

With our moderate temperatures year round, it’s never a bad time to come to Sea Island. The winters can be very mild and the rates are the lowest. Spring and Fall are spectacular and summer is our most popular time to enjoy our five miles of private beach! -

What is Easter like at Sea Island?
Easter at Sea Island, and its Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotels The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club and The Cloister, is a grand affair with events covering almost every hour from March 27 until Easter Sunday on March 31.
The 7 a.m. Easter Sunday sunrise service at the Beach Club will be one to remember as the sun will just be coming up and the ocean waves will provide the soundtrack to an all-inclusive Christian service. A morning service will also be held in The Cloister Chapel at 9 a.m.
Come afternoon on Easter Sunday, Sea Island goes all out for their egg hunt. The precursor is an interactive Easter Egg-Stravaganza featuring bunnies, eggs and, of course, golf balls. And the egg hunt itself? Expect more than 10,000 eggs in five different areas, separated by age groups. Kids who find the golden golf ball on each field will receive a prize. Reservations are required for both the Egg-Stravaganza and Easter egg hunt.
There are plenty of Easter lunch and brunch options, including a brunch buffet in the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Georgian Room restaurant and an Italian à la carte brunch menu at Tavola. And there are plenty more events throughout Easter weekend, ranging from a sand bunny building contest and breakfast with the Easter Bunny to a tennis exhibition match.
