The hotel’s two semicircular towers connect to the convention center, shopping, restaurants and the Raffles center, where you can access the rail system. It’s also within walking distance of attractions like the Esplanade, the Bugis Street markets and the cricket fields. In the lobby, towering carved wood panels warm up the modern space while sculptures displayed in alcoves makes it feel like a gallery. The fan-shaped guestrooms are large with a neutral, clean design and unique all-glass bathrooms. All of the rooms have balconies looking out at the city, South China Sea or marina; request a room facing downtown near the top of the 26-story towers for the best view.

The Four-Star Fairmont Singapore is in one of the prime locations in this Asian city-state off the Malay Peninsula. The hotel, located at 80 Bras Basah Road, is part of the Raffles City complex, a full city block that also hosts a conference center and stores like Brooks Brothers, Coach and Kate Spade. (There's also a 24-hour Starbucks, which could come in handy if the time change has thrown you for a loop but you still have business meetings or sightseeing to attend to.) If you want to see some other city sights, one of the country's grandest sanctuaries, St. Andrew Cathedral, is just a block southwest, quite close to city hall.
