What are Adam Tihany’s most recent design projects?
Right now, we are working with The Oberoi in New Delhi, so every two months I get to go India. We are working on a restaurant with Harvey Nichols in Kuwait, which opens in the fall. We are designing a pretty major restaurant with The Breakers Palm Beach, in Los Angeles we are redoing The Beverly Hills Hotel, and in New York we are designing Sirio Ristorante New York at The Pierre. We recently started a hotel project in Venice, Italy. -

When is the best time to visit New York City?
Fall and spring is too obvious. I'm a winter person. I love the extreme weather during the winter in New York. Snow is completely magical the first hour that it falls. I used to have a house in Venice in Italy and my favorite time of the year is winter because nobody is there. The humidity gets into your bones. It's very grim but it has this romance and decadence. That comes with the territory and it doesn't smell either. Since then I sort of fell in love with winter. For me it's like the Mark Halprin book Winter's Tale. -

What is the best way to see New York City in one day?
A day in New York it starts and ends with the High Line. We live downtown in the Village, and we just love to go early in the morning to the High Line when nobody's there at 6:30 a.m. It is truly one of the most extraordinary urban parks that I've seen in a long time. I love roaming around the Lower East Side, and I recently have gotten the Brooklyn bug. I've been exploring Williamsburg, Red Hook, Green Point, and Bushwick. I'm not there that often, but I have some friends who live in Brooklyn and work in Brooklyn so I try to go see their studios and they take me around. -

Which five New York City restaurants are best for brunch?
I'm not necessarily a brunch person but I like Clinton St. Baking Company if I'm downtown. Actually, if you have guests form out of town and you want to impress them with New York brunch, I think Asiate, the restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental does a great job. The spot is amazing. You can see the parks in the winter or summer — it's very beautiful.
