What is Marcia Kilgore’s favorite travel souvenirs?
Photos and local artifacts that can remind me of a good time I’ve had. I last brought back a gorgeous stone Buddha head from Hong Kong, but as a gift. Now I have to go back and get myself my own. -

What are Marcia Kilgore’s favorite London bars?
The bar at Claridge’s is perfect. It’s not trying too hard to be cool, but it’s luxurious and gorgeous and sexy in a really grown-up kind of way. -

What are Marcia Kilgore’s favorite places for brunch in London?
The Wolseley — is there another place? Tom’s Kitchen in Notting Hill and upstairs at Bluebird. -

What are Marcia Kilgore’s favorite things to do in London?
I’ve got two young sons, so most of my London time over the last seven years has been spent in a playground, at a climbing wall or on a school run. The National Portrait Gallery is always amazing. I love the Victoria and Albert Museum for the design and fashion exhibitions. There’s always something great going on at the Royal Festival Hall or Royal Albert Hall, you just have to plan ahead. -

What was the best trip Marcia Kilgore ever took?
In my early 20s, I drove down the Pacific Coast Highway for 10 days, starting in Mendocino, driving through Yosemite and San Francisco, and then through Napa Valley and Carmel. The weather was beautiful, and I discovered so many new things. And I was free then — not too many business issues constantly whirring — so it was full of magical moments. -

What does Marcia Kilgore always travel with?
I always have a cashmere eye mask, long socks, a pair of leather FitFlop Shuv clogs, Mack’s wax ear plugs, a pack of Off Your Face wipes and my Soap & Glory Make Yourself Youthful serum, which acts as my moisturizer, serum, everything-in-one. I also bring my BlackBerry, MacBook Air, a big gray cashmere hat and magazines. And paperwork and the mistaken belief that I’ll tackle it. -

What are Marcia Kilgore’s favorite cities to visit?
Antwerp in Belgium for the amazing design you find hidden around every corner — even Laundromats are inspiring there. And New York, because it’s like a battery charger — you just have to stand on the street and you’re re-inspired about what’s possible.
Florence is incredible for art, food and because in Italy you feel like it’s okay to stop for a minute and have a fabulous life. -

What are Marcia Kilgore's favorite hotels?
I like Four Seasons Hotel New York because the service is impeccable. You’re around the corner from Barneys and Garren — the world’s best hairdresser — and there’s always a lot going on in the lobby. And Four Seasons Hotel Milano during the Furniture Fair, because everybody is there. The Berkeley in London, because it’s close to shopping and the park, is quintessentially British and the afternoon tea is exceptional. And Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong for inspired service.
I also love Hotel Cala di Volpe [in Porto Cervo, Italy], because having lunch there in front of the pool is like being in a movie. And The Halkin in London, for the most discreet yet welcoming service I’ve ever experienced.

London
Regularly referred to as a serial entrepreneur, Marcia Kilgore is the woman who started Bliss Spas, FitFlop footwear and the Soap & Glory cosmetic and skincare line. Born in the small Canadian town Outlook, Saskatchewan, Kilgore moved to New York City in 1987. There, in her quest to treat her own acne-prone skin, she launched Bliss Spa — a worldwide brand with a popular product line. Kilgore sold Bliss in 1999 but kept her hands in the beauty business with the creation of Soap & Glory in 2006. Now the Londoner is a key player in the fashion world, too. Her growing FitFlop business — a line of stylish shoes that gives wearers a workout while they walk — has taken off in Asia, Europe and the United States.
