What are the five best things to order at Prime 44 West?

Prime 44 West Steakhouse is a premier steakhouse that offers more than what you may expect from a restaurant specializing in steak. We’ve come up with a list of the five best things to order at this restaurant. Of course, the beef is delicious and makes a couple of appearances on our list.

    1. The first item on our list is certainly as rich as it sounds. The lobster mashed potatoes are served in a cauldron brimming with the decadent aroma of buttered lobster. Though you probably won’t be able to eat the entire cauldron, you will definitely want to. Trust us, this guilty pleasure dish is worth it.

    2. Next on our list is one of the recipes from the wife of Prime 44 West’s namesake, Jerry West. Karen’s Caesar salad is conveniently prepared tableside so you can see each and every ingredient added and know that it’s as fresh as can be. The dressing is light and refreshing yet still has that Caesar bite.

    3. Third on the list is another special treat from Karen West. The irresistible Italian cream cake with coconut icing is as big as your head. You may think you can’t finish the entire slice, but it’s so good you won’t be able to stop.

    4. Now for the meat. The 35-day dry aged cuts are tender and smooth to the palate. Whether you want a 24-ounce T-bone or a bone in rib-eye, you can’t go wrong with the dry aged cuts.

    5. Last, but certainly not least is the American Wagyu filet mignon. Though typically a smaller piece of meat in comparison to the larger offerings on a steak menu, here you can choose how large you want your filet since this gourmet beef is priced by the ounce. The steak is so tender that you can basically cut it with a butter knife.

Does Prime 44 West offer special bread and butter service?

Prime 44 West Steakhouse sticks to the steakhouse tradition of stellar bread and butter service. The butter accompanies three different breads, all of which are made in-house, even the butter. You can choose from traditional artisan bread, sourdough and a savory bacon roll. In addition to the delicious breadbox, your server will also bring you a gift from the chef. The owner of The Greenbrier, where Prime 44 West is located, is very involved in the restaurant, so much so that his wife’s award-winning cornbread is served to every diner. Along with this “Best in Show” cornbread is a blue ribbon complete with the recipe. We’re serious about the “Best in Show” title — Cathy Justice entered her recipe into the West Virginia State Fair competition and won. So we’re not kidding when we say that the bread and butter service at Prime 44 West is completely unique in its own West Virginia way.
